2. MARKO MARKOVIC TURNS 18 ON 29 FEB!

Born in a leap year, the only son of Balkan trumpet champion Boban
Markovic is coming of age on 29 Feb 2006, a no-day this year, but no
reason not to celebrate this important occasion. An outstanding day
also, because Boban Markovic will officially hand over the Orkestar to
his son and successor on his birthday. PIRANHA's special present for
this occasion: A free gift CD with the Balkan Mix of "The Promise" as a
gift to everybody buying "The Promise" on tour. If you don't happen to
see them on tour, 3 songs of the Balkan Mix will be available as
downloads within the next weeks. Details will follow here.
Marko was given a trumpet as a toddler and started to receive lessons
from Boban's father when he was 9. At 13 he was in the studio for the
first time, at 14 he joined Boban's Orkestar. At 16 he became lead
soloist and started arranging for the band. Now he is the featured
soloist on Boban's newest CD "The Promise". In the forthcoming movie
"Love Fair in Guca", directed by Dusan Milic, produced by Emir
Kusturica, he will starr as a young Romeo falling in love with a Serbian
girl. Music and race will intertwine in this dramatic Balkan epic.

3. MAURICE EL MEDIONI ON TOUR IN UK

Maurice El Medioni fullfilled a childhood dream with Roberto Rodriguez' Latin
interpretation of his songs, the new CD of the Master of PianOriental
immediately shot to the TOP OF THE WORLD of Songlines's March/April issue
even before its release: "Who would have guessed it would turn out to be this
good? El Médioni's rippling oriental keyboard riffs rise to the occasion so
buoyantly and gracefully that he sounds at times like a North African Eddie
Palmieri. That thick, measured New York Latin bass, so different from any
bass El Médioni has previously recorded with, is perfect. The richly
syncopated percussion - totally distinct from El Médioni's usual straight
ahead darbuka and drum kit - is subtle and powerful." Read the full article
on http://www.songlines.co.uk/topoftheworld/top-of-the-world.php .
Now, if you are in the UK don't miss your chance to see Maurice El Medioni
live on stage: 10 March, Birmingham, mac / 12 March, London, QEH / 14 March,
